An intimate non-traditional wedding in Vancouver
Karen and Kenny were a dream to work with, bringing together all the details and coordinating their very intimate and non-traditional Vancouver wedding. My biggest priority working with a couple is to make sure I understand your priorities. Equally important is to make sure your personalities shine through and make your day special. Karen and Kenny already knew how they wanted to make this happen and I refined the little pieces to make sure everything flowed smoothly.
An Intimate Ceremony
No big formalities here! Karen and Kenny walked into their ceremony together. I loved how intimate this felt and that was just the start of their personal details going into their day. The Ceremony took place on the front lawn of the house with our couple walking from the front door. The aisle was lined with their loved ones on either side standing and a few lounge stools at the front for each of their parents. The ceremony was officiated by a close friend of the couple.

Casual Reception Celebrations
Instead of the typical assigned seating dinner reception, Karen and Kenny kept things free flowing for a vibe that matched their style. We had stations set up for a bar, an instant noodle bar, bubble tea and a fashion illustrator doing portraits! A huge spread was prepared from local restaurant, Sala Thai, in a buffet line with all of K&K’s favourite Thai dishes. For dessert, we passed around Mello donuts, a huge crowd pleaser!

Non-Traditional Seating
Why have 1 lounge area when you can have 3? Karen and Kenny created 3 intimate spaces that their guests could group together and enjoy conversations well into the night. Lounge furniture paired with string lights and plenty of candles created the best evening mood lighting. To keep everyone warm as it got darker, we had blankets available for them to bundle up and get cozy.

The End Result
This was a truly special celebration. So many couples come to us craving a casual but gorgeous vibe for their wedding day. They want to feel like a part of the celebrations and have the time to mingle with all their guests. The focus is on relationships you have with everyone present from family to friends. How did we make that happen? The layout itself was a star part of the wedding day. Having an open area with plenty of moving around options gave guests the freedom to choose what they like and have different experiences. Without the restriction of a set food service time, guests had free reign to pick and choose when they wanted a bite or a beverage. Karen and Kenny weren’t rushed at all on their wedding day and they had plenty of private moments with each other to soak it all in
