Kyra & Ryan's Vancouver Al Fresco Wedding

Kyra and Ryan dreamed of an outdoor garden wedding in Vancouver, a beautiful ceremony on the lawn followed by an arbour reception al fresco. We worked with Kyra and Ryan early on to assist them with planning their wedding and designing the aesthetics of the day.

The perfect outdoor wedding venue

Vancouver’s UBC Botanical Garden was the perfect location for their dream wedding. The Contemporary Lawn is the perfect spot for a ceremony on the lawn. The Arbour provides just the right amount of shade and ambiance for a long table reception dinner.

Although UBC Garden has white garden chairs that can be added on to a venue rental and string lights for the arbour, everything else needs to be brought in. Rentals came in from tables, linens, dinner plates and glassware to a tent with dancefloor, flowers, lounge furniture pieces. Each element brought a little extra personalization to Kyra and Ryan’s special day.

The Arbour itself is gorgeous. Once mid to late summer hits, it’s full of vines. The light comes through in just the right spots to make the reception lighting so dynamic. When the evening hits and it gets darker, the Arbour’s string lights adds some extra light and warmth to keep enjoying the evening.

With a tent on the grass, it adds extra shade for your pre and post Ceremony Cocktail Hour. We had string lights in and around the tent to give more light for guests to dance after dinner.

When planning your wedding at UBC Garden, make sure you check your electrical requirements. You will often need to rent a generator to make sure the power isn’t overloaded!
